Onteora High School’s varsity eight-man football team split their last two Section 9 home games, carrying a 1-2 record into this Friday’s visit to Pine Plains/Rhinebeck.
It began on Saturday, September 18 with a 23-7 win over visiting Fallsburgh. Sophomore Reese Rotella tossed a pair of touchdowns for the Eagles, and Shayne Bresler ran in a score as well.

Griffin Alterio (10.5 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 0.5 sack), Bresler (9 tackles, forced and recovered fumble) and Joey Christofora (1.5 sacks, forced fumble) helped lead the Onteora defense.
One week later, Spackenkill came to town, with the Eagles on the losing end of a 42-6 result. Bresler returned an interception for a touchdown, the lone score for the home team. Bresler compiled 11 tackles, four assists, and two pass breakups in a losing effort. Altiero (9 tackles, 7 assists) and Christofora (5 tackles, 5 assists) also contributed to the Onteora defense.
Onteora’s Homecoming Celebration also took place prior to the homecoming football game on Saturday, September 25.
